"Who Says the Jews Aren't Saved?" -- Restaurant Starlu, Part IV

Last night at Starlu -- Chef and owner Sam Poley rustled up his radically excellent eggplant parmesan for me and K. even though it was well after dinner time.  "You're a saint", I said.  "But I'm Jewish!", he replied.

Sainted chef or otherwise, the eggplant dish was even better than I remembered it from last time*.  But that's only half the point of today's blog, which is to tell you about the Chocolate Soup dessert, which prompted the title of a forthcoming paper from a prominent southern Christian theologian -- "Who Says the Jews Aren't Saved?"

Photo essay, below.  Click pics to increase serving size.

Chocolate Soup -- before

Chocolate Soup -- after**

Chocolate Soup -- in between "before" and "after",
at the mercy of its ill-mannered executioner

*...on an outing with Grace, whose first eggplant (and ribeye) photos were alas lost, necessitating this followup visit.  More on the Grace outing in an upcoming blog with many outlandish but appropriate quotes.

**At some point I will also tell you about the black truffle and vanilla martini, pictured at right, not to mention the shortcake.

Oh, and feel free to click over there --> for Starlu commentaries Round I, Round II, and Round III.

We went to Starlu last night! We thought about getting the chocolate soup but we were sooo full and it sounded sooo rich. So we shared the grilled lemon pound cake. Which was divine.
