Procrastination

Procrastination

What drives you to procrastinate?  And what do you do with your time when you're procrastinating?

My faves involve CRTs or LCD screens: television and the internet.  Blogging is a more virtuous procrastinaction*, but I don't do is often.

I yoinked this poster from the sharp folks at despair.com (click for the whole set).  I think they debuted around 1995 and I'm glad they're still going strong.  I think that Defeat was my favorite of their first series.

*apologies to Ms. P who hates these made up words -- perhaps even worse when they're mushups.  Oh, there I go again.  Dang.

my procrastination has been particularly bad lately. i tend to surf the web and watch tv a lot.

i feel mentally tired. i think that's why it's bad right now. my best guess is that events of the year have overwhelmed me. i have almost no social energy, too.

I've found that anything except the task I'm supposed to be doing is a great procrastinaction.

I really heart despair.com. A few years ago I got one of their calendars and when the year was over, we laminated the pages and hung them around the office. They have proven popular even with the bosses. My favorite is "Burnout: Atitudes are contagious. Mine could kill you." (http://www.despair.com/burnout.html)

Yes! Despair.com was one of my first favorite things on the 'net (after it had pictures). They used to have the opposite, a motivator-poster shop, at the mall, which I liked to browse optimistically.

I procrastinate by blogging, reading about blogging, checking my blog stats, installing blog plug-ins, commenting on other blogs, tweaking my blog design. I also visit online boards related to non-blogging areas of interest.

I find it helps to set hard and fast work times, and then give myself permission to procrastinate outside of those times. Oops, it 2pm, gotta go! ;)

What can I say - I'm rigid :-)

I just realized that I have not procrastinated in ages. I have no to-do list. Oh my god, I have become SELF ACTUALIZED. Heh.

(well, not really. but is nice not to have things hanging over your head for the moment)
