Fraser River -- Vancouver to Jasper

Canb117

This pic an hour or so east of Vancouver.  Please pardon the flare.  The trip got crazy gorgeous as we left civilization and entered the mountains.

Also, please see the Mill Bay post from two days ago, with an updated pic.

Time for dinner, eh?

Um, were you on top of the train a la James Bond, or was there some sort of little bubble to look through?

Joe -- a little bubble it was. Though your James Bond question is apt. Having never been on a sleeper train before, I spent a good little while thinking I was visiting a Bond movie. Much like I've felt when visiting European cities.

It took many visits to New York before I started feeling like I was really being in NYC qua NYC as opposed to being in a place where movies get filmed.

And my apologies for using the word "qua"

You know, that fight scene on the Orient Express at the end of From Russia With Love is the most realistic-seeming movie fight I can remember. Bond and the Russian agent really look to me like they're beating the hell out of each other. Bond movies are one of my guilty pleasures. I own a copy of every one. :)
